just a quick question and it is a question. If bibles are printed in China and cheap for every christian to purchase why is illegal to take bibles into China?

A very good question. Encourage you to try to see from a cross cultural perspective.

1) Not easy to run China as a nation. Need to understand the political situation. Need to understand how many years they have to catch up.

2) Social stability is crucial to the people and to the government. For development, to feed 1.3 billion ppl. The rich and the poor gap is ever increasing.

3) Cults are everywhere.

4) Bibles printed in China, have been seen and approved. Feel safe. how do you control quality of those bibles that are smuggled in? Have they been altered? Which organisations do they come from? Security of the nation.

5) Sovereignty of the country. The Law of the land. The country is opening up slowly but will not be at the pace and at the rate all of us in the West like. Many things would not have been possible 20 years ago. Now there are so many Christian bookshops in China. Many Western Christian books have also been translated into Chinese and sold in China!!

6) It is not just bibles that need permit, you need permit to bring in any other kinds of books in large quantity.

7) Bad testimony for Chrisitans for not respecting and obeying the law of the land. You can disagree with this but this is how they see it. There are ways of doing things but why we choose an illegal way without thinking of the consequences, the trouble we bring? It is not that the situation is not improving. 40 million bibles are printed with Chinese Governmnet blessing. From a cross cultural point of view,I can fully understand their point of view.

Not familiar with all the details but I would venture a guess to say that Anonymous is right in saying this a censorship matter.
The chinese gov't likes to see everything that gets published to avoid political messages from the west. Hence the censorship of google.
Just wanted to thank you for what you're doing. A friend had your link posted and I am glad I stopped by.
